Pastors Peter Simpson and John Sherwood and Mr Graham Parkhouse were preaching the gospel in Slough on August 24th.
Pastor Simpson spoke on “There is none righteous, no not one” (Romans 3:10), and emphasied the corruption of the human heart. All are slaves to the lusts and passions of their fallen natures. Only Jesus Christ can remove this inward corruption. All need “the washing of regeneration” (Titus 3:5); all MUST be born again (John 3:7).
A man walked by expressing contempt for the message, but was challenged by the preacher to offer a more coherent argument against Christian truth than just a brief verbal outburst. Sadly he chose not to.
Mr Parkhouse explained how the Western World is facing an existential crisis, because its institutions for a long time have been adopting atheistic ideology, underpinned by a faith in science and technology, but in open repudiation of its Christian heritage.
Affirming the goodness of God shown to men by His creation, Mr Parkhouse also explained the Fall of Man, and his rebellion against God, as the source of mankind’s troubles. The sin of man deserves eternal death. Nevertheless, there is no need for anyone to end up in an everlasting condemnation. There is still time to repent and flee to Christ for mercy.
May many who heard in Slough realise the shortness of the time and come to the only Saviour of sinners, the Lord Jesus Christ, without further delay.
