Pastor Peter Simpson was preaching the unchanging gospel of salvation in the centre of Uxbridge on 21st July. Other local Christians were also present witnessing, along with Mrs Lesley Pilkington.
A young man came up to Pastor Simpson sporting a highly tattooed body and being completely contemptuous of the gospel and the Name of Christ. The minister endeavoured to impress upon him the seriousness of sin and the reality of an everlasting condemnation outside of Christ, but the man remained totally dismissive of Christian truth and said that the minister had no right to try and force has views on other people. He particularly took exception to the stance of the witnessing Christians that it was very wrong to promote the LGBT agenda in the nation’s schools. This shows how the acceptance and promotion of homosexuality has become the yardstick of all decency in modern Britain.
In his preaching Pastor Simpson referred to the way in which the government over the previous three years had gone to enormous levels to make society terrified of a virus. This constant emphasis on doom-laden fear projected in the media was totally excessive. How much more appropriate not is for people to be fearful about the consequences of sin not repented of. Sin, unlike the virus in question, has a 100% mortality rate, and the only solution is fleeing to Christ in repentance and faith.
Mrs Pilkington spoke to another heavily tattooed man who had a lot of new Age ideas. She explained the gospel to him, and after a while he agreed to accept a copy of John’s Gospel. May the Lord speak to his heart through it.
Mrs Pilkington also had a long conversation with some teenagers who were mocking the preaching. They called that the Christians were fill of hate simply because of one of the posters on display which is that the LGBT Ganda should not be promoted in our schools. The witnessing sister referred to Leviticus 18:22 regarding what the Lord thinks about this sin. She explained the gospel several times as the conversation continued, particularly focusing upon the Lord’s love for sinners by His dying for them. The teenagers gradually quietened down in their opposition and mockery, and one of them agreed to accept a copy of John’s Gospel. What was particularly distressing was the young people’s complete ignorance about the Bible’s teaching on the sinfulness of sexual relations between a man and a woman outside of marriage. This was complete news to them. It is deeply troubling that our young people are so brainwashed by the culture of the day.
May they and many others who heard the gospel in Uxbridge realise that “the fashion of this world passeth away” (1 Corinthians 7:31), and that the only lasting truth is to be found in Him who is the Truth, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
