Pastors John Sherwood, Peter Simpson and Mr Graham Parkhouse (Epsom) were preaching the gospel in Slough High Street on August 22nd.

Pastor Simpson spoke at one stage on Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. All therefore need to repent, but all also need a new heart in the power of the Holy Spirit, which is what being born again actually is. All without Christ have their minds blinded by the Devil himself. This is a captivity which only the Lord Jesus can take away. No on bey nature possesses a basic goodness. So all need to come to Christ fro a new nature. All who do not do this are condemned already.

A young man walked by scoffing saying, “Blah, blah, blah, blah”, implying that the preacher was speaking nothing but nonsense. Pastor Simpson suggested to him that he would not be saying those words on the Day of Judgemet when standing before the Lord Jesus Christ.

A muslim came past calling out Allahu Akbar (God is most great), which of course is a declaration that Islam is the only true faith. Pastor Simpson responded to this by saying to the Muslim that calling out Allah Akbar is not sufficient to save anyone from their sins. God’s justice upon sins has first to be stifled for anyone to have fellowship with Him. There has to be a means of atonement. The only way in  which sinners can be reconciled to God is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died on the Cross in the sinner’s place. This means of atonement is not present in Islam.

A man angrily came up to the witnessing Christians, protesting about the poster on display which refers to the promotion of the LGBT agenda in the nation’s schools being contrary to the teachings of the Bible. He insisted that he took Pastor Simpson‘s name and address saying that he was going to report him to the authorities. He just could not seem to accept that not everyone is in favour of young people being influenced by the propaganda of the gay rights activists. The level of his anger demonstrates how successful the LGBT lobby has been in making assent to their agenda the yardstick of all decency.

May the Lord open this man’s eyes to realise that conforming to the fashionable philosophies of the day does not  mean that one automatically has truth on one’s side.

Prayer is now being offered up that those who heard in Slough might realise the urgency of the message and come in repentance and faith to the only Saviour of sinners, the Lord Jesus Christ.
