Pastors Peter Simpson and John Sherwood were preaching the gospel outside of the Houses of Parliament in central London on April 19th.

There were a number of posters on display dealing with the historic, Bible-based constitution of our nation and of the absolute necessity of the forthcoming coronation service having no multi-faith elements in it. For example one of the posters displayed read,

‘In the first commandment the Trinitarian God declares, Thou shalt have no other gods before me. So the coronation service must be totally and exclusively Christian, as existing statute law demands’.

Mrs Pilkington, who was helping with the witness, had an encouraging conversation with a man who did not have any particular faith, but who seemed to come from a Muslim background. When he was told about the Lord Jesus Christ and His great work salvation for sinners, he was amazed and interested. Quite a long dialogue ensued. The man thankfully took a tract, and also a gospel of John.

Both Mrs Pilkington and the two pastors spoke at length with two young Roman Catholics who were very forceful in their adherence to distinctive but erroneous Catholic teachings, such as the sinlessness of Mary and transubstantiation. Pastor Simpson endeavoured to explain how Mary, though greatly used by God, was nevertheless a sinner, who spoke of her own need of a Saviour (Luke 1:47).

It is thought that one MP, and certainly one lady peer sitting in the House of Lords took some evangelistic literature.

At one stage Pastor Simpson preached on Proverbs 3:7, “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil”, and applied these words on a national level in respect of Britain’s tragic departure form the one true faith of Jesus Christ crucified for sinners. As another of the posters on display read, ‘GOD JUDGES NATIONS. If the UK carries on with its woke, anti-Christian agenda, the Lord will bring upon us division, decline and collapse’.

Only the preaching of the glorious gospel can halt the tragic national decline.
