We are an independent, conservative evangelical and Protestant church, standing upon truth of the Bible, which is the very word of God.
We exist to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ crucified for sinners, upholding the complete inerrancy and historical accuracy of the Scriptures as being our sole authority in all matters of faith and practice.
In pursuit of this high calling of preaching Christ, the only Saviour of men, PFMC shuns the political correctness which has become the message of so many churches in our day. The task of churches is not to mimic the fashionable doctrines of secular liberalism (Romans 12:2, Colossians 2:8), but to be separate from the world and to proclaim the truths of God’s word, regardless of whether the world likes it or not.
THE NATION’S PRESENT CONDITION
Modern Britain is simply not hearing about the need for each individual to repent, nor about the reality of God’s judgement upon sin. Instead, the message generally passed on by the mainstream churches is the old, social-gospel heresy (prevalent since the late 19th century), which bears little difference to contemporary atheistic Marxism.
Our nation needs, not clichés about ‘equality and diversity’, not a trendy, green ‘save the planet’ focus, not the anaemic man-pleasing message of social improvement (which requires no belief in God at all), but a straightforward Biblical call to repentance from sin and to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
How tragic it is to see churches brazenly jumping on the climate change bandwagon, instead of preaching the gospel. It is God who controls the climate, and the Bible tells us that as long as this world lasts, variations of season and temperature will always be with us :
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22).
The error which is deceiving many in 21st century Britain is that “Jesus judges no one”, because He is ‘inclusive’ and loves people ‘unconditionally’ and ‘just as they are’. The wrath of God upon rebellious men which is continually set forth in the Bible has been consigned to the scrapheap marked ‘dangerous fundamentalism’, because it is deemed to be unacceptable to modern, progressive, liberal ears. What a contrast is this abandonment of the truth to what God’s word actually teaches :
“We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
“Before him (Christ) shall be gathered all nations : and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats : And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left” (Matthew 25:32–33).
“Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3 – spoken by the Lord Himself).
Indeed, the message generally passed on by the mainstream churches is nothing more than fashionable liberal secularism, otherwise known as ‘cultural Marxism’. We accordingly see many churches vigorously embracing the Bible-denying feminist and LGBT movements.
The social-gospel heresy, which never focuses upon the necessity of personal salvation from sin, implies that man has no needs above the purely material. Man, however, has an immortal spirit, which lives on after the body dies. Heaven and hell are realities, because God is a righteous Judge, as well as a merciful Saviour. Society and social conditions can only improve, if people are first changed in their hearts into lovers of God, as they hear the gospel preached.
So what Britain desperately needs to hear is a straightforward Biblical call to repentance from sin and to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
It is this gospel which alone can transform society, not politicians increasing Government expenditure on this or that fashionable cause. It is the gospel of Jesus Christ crucified for sinners which alone can change the human heart.
